Everyone knows we've fucked with that New York City rap shit since nineteen ninety tec nine (and beyond). The Golden Era might be but a distant memory but every now and then a diamond in the rough is unearthed from the hip-hop Mecca and ya quite simply gotta stand up and take notice.
Patrick 'Wiki' Morales is that guy for us right now.

Back in 2009, through the guidance of downtown creatives Aaron Bondaroff and Ari Marcopoulos and like-minded outsiders, Wiki teamed up with homies Sporting Life and Hak to form the uncompromising Ratking. Releasing Wiki93 (2012) and So It Goes (2014) to rave reviews, Ratking catapulted into a world of local underground success, proving to a new generation of hip hop listeners that the rules of the past can be broken albeit with respect.
Out of Ratking grew new genres of hip hop, a resurgence in DIY production and a shrewd lyricist in Wiki, whose youthful observations of Manhattan’s chaotic ecosystem were extraordinary and he has since dropped his solo debut, 'No Mountains in Manhattan'.
It blew our minds. It's got Ghostface Killah on it. It's fucking rad.
So much so that we're bringing Wiki back to Liverpool and we're heading down to the scene of our infamous 11th Birthday party back in 2010 (did someone say lightbulbs?), the Shipping Forecast basement, to get down with one of the illest to come out of NYC in recent years. Expect low ceilings, sweaty scenes and one dope MC. Yeeeeyaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!
